Hesabu na Elimu Jumuishi (AIE) - Tanzania
Hesabu na Elimu Jumuishi (AIE) was a 21-month, $13.5 million activity with two major objectives: to improve the quality of early grade arithmetic instruction and to improve the inclusivity of early grade education for children with disabilities. The program built upon USAID’s broader literacy program, Tusome Pamoja, by expanding the current project’s goals to include mastering early grade arithmetic and increasing the inclusivity of primary education. Hesabu na Elimu Jumuishi provided intensive, targeted assistance to the same regions as Tusome Pamoja, which included Zanzibar and four Mainland Tanzania regions: Iringa, Morogoro, Mtwara, and Ruvuma. IDP served as the technical advisor on all elements of inclusive education for the project, including screening, teacher training, community mobilization, and operational research.
